Details

Experience the energy and tradition of Japanese taiko drumming in a welcoming studio in Tokyo. Guided by master taiko performer and instructor Eva Kestner, this workshop offers a hands-on introduction to the rhythms, movement, and cultural background that shape this art form.

The session begins with the basics, starting with how to stand, how to hold the drumsticks, and how to move your body with the beat. From there, you will practice rhythmic patterns and gradually build them into a short piece. Eva explains each step clearly and adjusts the pace to the participants, making the workshop accessible whether it's your first time or you already have musical experience.

Throughout the class, you will also learn about the cultural significance of taiko and how its styles vary across regions in Japan. At the end of the session, you can perform the piece you've learned and receive a video to remember the moment.

This workshop offers an engaging way to connect with Japanese culture through movement, rhythm and performance. It is suitable for individuals, families, and groups. For larger groups, please contact us in advance so we can prepare arrangements.
