Details
Akabane is a popular hangout for Tokyoites. Not well-known by tourists, so it’s filled with a truly local atmosphere. But yet, conveniently located, only 15 mins by train from Shinjuku station, or Tokyo station. There are many small eateries and standing bars with amiable and cheerful crowds. You can get a glimpse of an interesting side of Japanese society by mingling here. Your guide can take you to these local and secret hangouts. We will easily interact with the locals and enjoy getting to know each other. Immersing yourself in all the genuine warmth and good-will between all peoples, this will be a truly memorable experience of your holiday in Japan.
We meet at the South ticket gates of JR Akabane Station (a big terminal station) and we start the tour from there. This is a great value tour that includes 2 drinks (alcohol or non-alcohol) and a hot-pot dish with 5 items and small dish like chicke on a stick. We finish off the tour with a locally famous ramen. You will be full by the end of the tour. So it can be very reasonable dinner.
Why not join our small group to visit 2 popular hangouts for a great time meeting the locals and experiencing a real side of Japan that few visitors ever get to see!
The meeting place: Just outside JR Akabane station SOUTH exit (南改札) ticket gates · Kita City
(Only 15 mins by train from Shinjuku or Tokyo station)

Host: Ryoji
Hello! My name is Ryoji Shimada. I am a Japanese national, professionally qualified and fluent English-speaking tour-guide for inbound tourists. Although I received my tour-guide license 3 years ago, I have been voluntarily involved in introducing Japan to non-Japanese people extensively for the past 19 years. I set up an international cultural exchange organization in 1997 where Japanese and non-Japanese can get together through diverse cultural activities such as visiting various cultural places or enjoying outdoor activities like hiking and skiing. Also, I have visited all 47 provinces (prefectures) in Japan and know various excellent spots and attractions throughout Japan, especially in my old hometown in and around Tokyo. It has been my greatest passion ever since my childhood to meet non-Japanese people and introduce Japan to them.
